THE PHYSICAL MAP OF THE WIZARDIUM

ORIGIN

Though the Laureates of Archaiad were more powerful, and in most ages priests or nation-trained magic wielders were more populous, nothing in all of the history of Fartherall was more synonymous with magic than the Wizardium. It was the preeminent institution of arcane learning in all of Eulomegne. No other arcane academy or seminary ever so much as approached the reputation for mastery of magic that was the province of the Wizardium.

The Wizardium began as an attempt by the Scions of the Third Age to preserve what knowledge they could of the magical practices developed by the Laureates, their now deceased mentors. The Scions had just concluded a many-year quest to hide and protect the Sword of Fighting. By the time they were able to turn their attention to the preservation of the Laureate’s legacy, much of that legacy was already lost. Most of the libraries and other integral structures built or used by the Laureates were destroyed or expropriated. Eventually, they headquartered themselves in the only remaining Laureate fastness, the Sunset Tower. It is likely that its remote and desolate location, situated on the edge of the Omnimond mountains, adjacent to the recently created Solimort desert, is the reason it was still intact and was not seized by one of the nascent human kingdoms.
