The Beta Site: The Good, Bad, and Ugly

What do you like? What's terrible? Where do we need to update our design?

Update:

We are stopping development on the beta site so that we can focus on getting the big revision ready to go. For the webdev nerds out there, here's what's on the docket. (And yes, if you have the right skill set, we'd welcome some help.)

  • Moving to Wordpress Multisite to enable shared user accounts across the ZOE network [DONE]
  • Will be importing all beta site content via a JSON file [TESTING SOLUTIONS]
  • Adding wikis, subscription levels, kickstarter-style campaigns, and Buddypress/bbforum implementation [DONE]
  • Dynamic HTML5 content based on the LESS framework, for compatibility across web and mobile devices [DONE]
  • Complete rewrite of video episode player for mobile compatibility, auto-updated playlists, and integration with site content [IN PROGRESS]
  • CMS for show/cast/director listings [IN PROGRESS]
  • Integration with new Fan Supported store, including digital downloads via S3 [In PROGRESS]
  • Total graphical overhaul [TO DO]

Really looking forward to the new upcoming upgrade to the site.

Gonna be a website full of awesome...

I think it would be a hoot to have the cursor icon look like

The Legendary Sword Of Fighting.   :D

Not sure if that's even doable...

Maybe Scott C. Brown(e) can help on that,

I hear he's into computers and "doesn't have time for that Internet crap."   ;)

'Tis doabubble. F'rinstance: see here and here. Probably unwise to try to enforce such a change on an unsuspecting visitor (not sure if that's possibubble these days), but offering it as an optional downloadabubble might appeal to some. ONWARD!

I just set mine to "pen"...it's close enough to The Legendary Sword Of Fighting for now,

until I figure out how to set the "Zelda Master Sword" I downloaded from DeviantArt.  :D
